Activation Error Code 2 and/or 4

Article ID: 5 Created On: 15 Sep 2009 8:06 PM

An error 2, 4 or 13 indicates that you have a firewall or security software blocking access to the ports required in order to do the

activation online. If you're using Windows Xp, temporarily disable the firewall that comes with Xp (Windows Firewall). To do this, go to Start/Control Panel/Windows Firewall and set it you off. If you have other firewall software installed, disable it temporarily to do the activation.

If you have Windows Vista, you will need to disable User Account Control. For that you need to open Control Panel, then go to User Accounts, click on Disable or Enable User Account Control and uncheck the UAC box.

With Vista, there is also a Windows program called Windows Defender and it maybe what is causing this issue. Please launch Windows Defender and go to Tools, Options. Here you will find a lot of configuration options. Scroll down to the end of the list. You will find there a section called Administrator options. Deselect the Use Windows Defender box and press the Save button. Now you will receive a notification saying that "Windows Defender is turned off". Click on Close. NULL
