Today’s computer processors and mother boards come in two varieties 64 bit or 32 bit. You need to use the software that is designed to run on your processor type. 32 bit processors are the most common, and the 32 bit version of our software will work on both 32 bit processors and 64 bit processors. The 64 bit processor version will NOT work on a 32 bit machine. If you are not certain and you are unable to determine your processor type with the instructions below, then it is safest to purchase a 32 bit version of Defender Pro.
Is my computer 32 bit or 64 bit?
If you have Windows Vista...
- Click the Start
button on your computer, type “system” in the Start Search box, and then click “system” in the Programs list. - The operating system is displayed as follows:
- For a 64-bit version operating system: 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
- For a 32-bit version operating system: 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
If you have Windows XP...
- Click the Start button, and then click Run.
- Type “sysdm.cpl”, and then click OK.
- Select the “General” tab. The operating system is displayed as follows:
- For a 64-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version <Year> appears under System.
- For a 32-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears under System.
If you have an Apple Computer...
Neither version of the software will work on your machine. Defender Pro is designed for Windows based Personal Computers.
